About Me
Games have enticed me for as long as I can remember and I have studied game development for many years. As a Narrative Designer at Fatshark, I have worked on the development and release of Darktide. Having worked in teams as well as in solo projects, taking on different roles, I am used to different workflows. The areas I’m most interested in are narrative, writing and game design which are areas I ideally see in conjunction, as I believe games are at their strongest as a narrative medium when story and gameplay align.
Interests
Game Design
The Art of Interactivity
The process of figuring out what works in a game and how players take to different design decisions is something that continues to catch my interest. I always find it fascinating to explore in what ways different mechanics can be used and envisioning myself in the shoes of a player to see what works best for a game. Finding new interactive challenges for people is a burning passion of mine.
Narrative
Being part of the story
Storytelling is one of my key interests. Games are a relatively new and exciting media to look for it since there's still so much to explore. I like storytelling in many forms, such as films, books, shows, comics, manga, etc. taking inspiration from a variety of sources. What really draws me to video game storytelling is the interactive nature of it which adds player agency & stronger captivation to the stories being told.
Skills
Creative Thinking
Never out of Ideas
In almost every game I've worked on, I can look back finding myself using outside-the-box thinking as well as developing the concept further to create puzzles, challenges, mechanics, levels or concepts that drastically improve the experience and help give the games a unique feeling. This is where my game design skills shine the brightest and one of my favorite parts of game development.
Interactive Storyteller
Writing for Games
I have a natural fondness for storytelling and games are no exception but an ideal. I make narratives for games and games for narratives. I enjoy writing interesting characters and intriguing plots while weaving the narrative themes into the design of the game.
Team Player
Understanding different Fields
My education has given me the opportunity to take on many different roles in game design as well as work with graphics and programming. The experience of having worked both in these areas and with people specialising in them has not only given me an understanding of the areas themself but also how to work well with my coworkers.
